HISTORY

Blue Talon Bistro opened in 2004 on Prince George Street in Williamsburg’s historic downtown.  The introduction of our brand of “Serious Comfort Food” to the community was met with excitement and we have spent the years since working to earn and keep the support and loyalty of the local community.  Every neighborhood deserves a local spot where they know they’ll get not only a great meal at a price they can afford but also the friendly and charming service that comes from being part of a community.

Whether you are a longtime resident of Williamsburg or just visiting our great City, we hope you’ll find the time to visit us and enjoy our hospitality.  We all have our own favorite meals of the day – and Blue Talon Bistro wants to be there for you, whichever you choose!  We’re open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner every day except Christmas Day, so you don’t’ have to make a special plan – just drop in, relax and enjoy!

As Julia Child would say, “Bon Appetit!”

DESIGN

Our  restaurant offers a comfortable blend of classic bistro features and distinctly modern elements, blended together in a seamless mix that allows our guests to relax and make the most of their visit.  The building we occupy was, in the early part of the 20th Century, knows as Ayers’ Garage.  A few decades later it became home to The Virginia Gazette, one of the oldest newspapers in the nation, dating back to colonial times.  By the 70’s, the building housed what would become a Williamsburg institution – The Cheese Shop.  When the Powers family moved The Cheese Shop to Duke of Gloucester Street, Chef David Everett and Adam Steely jumped at the opportunity to bring casual bistro dining to Williamsburg.

The award winning Architectural design was provided by Guernsey Tingle Architects, with special help from Tom Tingle and Andy Cronin.  Kathryn Tawes was responsible for the interior design, including the vibrant colors and stunning tile work.  Bistro elements include not only the hand stamped tin ceiling and the zinc hat rails that are featured in the main dining room but also the use of antique mirrors and, of course, the stunning 24’ Zinc Bar.  The Zinc Bar was custom made by hand at a family firm in France and shipped here by freighter to be installed at Blue Talon Bistro.

The custom designed and built furniture throughout the restaurant was hand-made and decorated by our own Chef David Everett – a passionate wood worker in his own right.
